ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr., for one, believes New England will opt to shore up its defensive backfield with its first selection. He slid Penn State running back Saquon Barkley into that position in his update.
When he gets on a roll, this is one of the most unsafe quarterbacks in the draft class. Darnold has excellent arm strength, poise in big moments, athleticism, and leadership qualities teams will covet in a QB prospect. "But does he have that extra intangible to be the great quarterback he is capable of being?"
Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com has the Dolphins taking Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson in the mock draft he released last week. It will be the first time Rosen speaks to media or is evaluated by a large group of stats since the end of the 2017 season.
Rosen, however, isn't a great athlete and missed a combined eight games in the past two seasons because of a shoulder injury and two concussions. Kiper wouldn't go that far, but he did say: "I think he's, at worst, a mid-second-round pick and could be an early second-round pick".
"I had a conversation with Mr. Gettleman and kind of told him how I felt and my abilities as a quarterback", Webb said.
Kiper has the Cleveland Browns selecting Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen with the first-overall pick.
"Either Derrius Guice from LSU or Ronald Jones would be two (options), and I gave Guice to the Detroit Lions at No. 20, and that allowed Jones to get down there at 25 (for the Titans)", Kiper said.
The Lions have a need for another pass rusher, even if the team uses the franchise tag on Ziggy Ansah. Kiper compared Allen to Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 draft. And, as is always the case, forecasting what Bill Belichick and Co. will do on draft day is at best hard and at worst impossible.
"Not every National Football League scout believes Jefferson is worthy of a first-round pick, but I think the Eagles could benefit from his size and athleticism inside or outside". He just has all the physical traits you want, athletic prowess. He makes throws that nobody else can make.
