American Gerard wins men's snowboard slopestyle at PyeongChang Olympics

He raised the cash by mowing virtually every lawn in his neighbourhood during a sweltering summer in Bromont, Que.

Parrot, 23, captured silver with his best score of 86.00 while McMorris, 24, captured bronze with his best score of 85.20.

McMorris's remarkable feat after cheating death did not go unnoticed by U.S. ski "queen" Lindsey Vonn, who tweeted a split photo, one half of the Canadian in a hospital bed with numerous tubes attached to him and the other showing him smiling and a superimposed bronze medal.

McMorris broke his jaw and left arm, ruptured his spleen, suffered a pelvic fracture, rib fractures and a collapsed lung as a result of the crash.

Nicholson, was scored a 76.41 on his second run, which was his best in the three-run final. Toutant and Parrot had yet to put together clean runs. A gusting wind also played into his decision.

Then it was on to the fireworks from McMorris and Parrot.

"Very much so, it is really cool that I can snowboard again", he said.

McMorris won bronze four years ago at the Sochi Games when slopestyle made its Olympic debut.
