Trump postpones his fake "Fake News Awards"

Trump postpones his fake

Trump tweeted last week that he would be "announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o'clock".

Late night hosts took advantage of Trump's latest invention to poke fun at the president - and put themselves up for the honor, of course. "And beyond that, I think we'll have to see what happens", White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Wednesday. "Stay Tuned!", the group said in its tweet. The book raised questions about Trump's mental fitness, and in former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon said he thought the 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer was "treasonous".

Trump says he'll give out the awards on January 17, but the White House hasn't said much about them.

During his tenure as President, Mr Trump has repeatedly claimed the media has been unfair to him.

Trump had promised to hold the mock awards show to castigate mainstream news organizations for their coverage of his presidency.

Mr Trump's awards have been met with widespread mirth with USA talk show hosts offering themselves up for consideration for the awards.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah ran an ad in the New York Times pushing itself to be given an award.

It is unclear how Mr Trump's awards will be judged.
