Trump Boasts of 'Very Good Relationship' With North Korean Leader

Asked whether he has spoken with the North Korean leader, Trump told the newspaper: "I don't want to comment on it". Trump, however, has made this decidedly more hard.

Now, the North Korean leader is of course interested in cooling the situation down, he went on. In a New Year's Day address, he suggested that North Korea had achieved its nuclear ambitions and said a "launch button" was "always on the desk in my office".

Defectors have said being found in possession of a Bible is a punishable offense in North Korea. Last summer he called Kim a "maniac" while threatening Pyongyang with "fire and fury".

If North Korea does get close to a full nuclear capability-perhaps demonstrated by an atmospheric nuclear test over the North Pacific-the pressure on the United States to consider preventive war becomes much greater.

"If I were them, I would try", Trump said.

Trump's statements on NAFTA negotiations are similarly ambiguous.

Satellite imagery shows "significant tunneling" at North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear test site, a report revealed Thursday.

The "nuclear button" tweet has had Lynch's phone ringing off the hook. He must know that a nuclear strike against a US city would trigger a catastrophic response.

He said North Korea was not bluffing and actively preparing for war.

In that case, the meeting in Panmunjom may well prove to be a welcome New Year's gift.

The US president in an interview made this remark, though he declined to comment on whether he had a talk with the North Korean leader in recent times or not.

World leaders were taken by surprise when the North said it wanted its athletes to take part in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang next month.

Earlier, he also claimed credit for restarting the inter-Korean peace talks, tweeting: "With all of the failed "experts" weighing in, does anybody really believe that talks and dialogue would be going on between North and South Korea right now if I wasn't firm, strong and willing to commit our total "might" against the North. Fools, but talks are a good thing!" In their eyes, the Pentagon is rehearsing elements of a coordinated military operation one step at a time.

Rising tensions between the U.S. and North Korea, which conducted its largest nuclear test in September and fired off a powerful ICBM in late November, have raised concerns worldwide. This is good for the prepper industry, but perhaps not so good for America's collective mental health.

On a phone call with South Korean President Moon Jae-in after the talks, Mr Trump suggested he was open to discussion between the U.S. and North Korea as well.

This might help explain why a growing number of Americans are seeking comfort by investing in bomb shelters and nuclear radiation emergency kits.
