Sony should join the Amazon Echo Show-challenging party as well sometime "later this year", provisionally keeping under wraps everything about its own voice-commanded, display-sporting smart speaker.

B&O also announced AirPlay 2 support is coming to 10 devices including the Beoplay M3, M5 and A9 mk2 and Beosound range.

"It goes back to our core philosophy of basically being agnostic and giving customers choice but the Google Assistant is a starting point", said Belimpasakis. Lenovo was the one of the first companies to unveil a Google Assistant powered Smart Display, with their yet-to-be-named product. One voice command and you'll have it right in front of you, via Google Maps.

The LG Smart Ecosystem has been contributing to the smart home industry in many ways. New survey data from The Smart Audio Report also reveals how voice-activation in the home is fueling adoption of smart technology broadly and affecting how often consumers engage with other platforms throughout the day.
