Darrell Bevell Reportedly Fired as Seahawks OC After 7 Seasons with Team

OC Darrell Bevell was already fired early Wednesday morning.

That report comes a day after the Seahawks dismissed offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and hours after word that they may also be parting ways with defensive coordinator Kris Richard. "We go into a game knowing what the defense is going to give us, the situations that we're going to be in".

It's unclear who the Seahawks will turn to as a replacement for Bevell.

"There's guys up for jobs now, and this is that time of year when stuff happens, and we'll see what goes on", Carroll said.

Richard has been with Carroll dating to Carroll's days as USC's head coach.

A former quarterback at Wisconsin, Bevell came to Seattle in 2011 after serving as the Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator for the previous five seasons.

The firing would be the first of a coordinator for the Seahawks since the removal of Bates following the 2010 season.

The Seahawks led the National Football League in both yards allowed and points allowed in 2014, the year before Richard became the defensive coordinator. His popularity among Seattle fans began to decline when the Seahawks fell to the Patriots in Super Bowl 49 due to an interception at the 1-yard line after the team made the controversial decision not to run the ball. The Seahawks also ranked in the top 10 in scoring from 2012 through 2015, including fourth in 2015 when they scored the second most points in franchise history.

The Seahawks' running game in particular has struggled over the past two seasons. He called the plays in Seattle's 43-8 win over Denver in the Super Bowl following the 2015 season. Wilson had over 4,000 yards through the air and the team averaged 141 rushing yards per game.
