Copa Del Rey Report: FC Barcelona v Celta Vigo 11 January 2018

This Copa Del Rey last 16 tie is finely poised after a 1-1 draw in Vigo last week which saw Celta play extremely well, before the Galicians then went on to shine in a 2-2 league draw against Real Madrid on Sunday evening.

With the tie balanced at 1-1 after the away leg, Messi starred at the Camp Nou with a pair of goals two minutes apart in the first half.

For Celta, keep an eye on their No.10 Iago Aspas.

Alba has set up seven goals for Messi this season in all competitions and Barca's all-time top scorer returned the favor with a curling pass from deep which his teammate slid in to poke inside the near post for the third goal after 28 minutes. They ended 2017 in the best way imaginable with a 3-0 win over Real Madrid, and beat Levante by the same scoreline in their most recent encounter.

The result ensures that the Catalan giants, who drew 1-1 with Celta in the first leg on January 4, progress to the quarter-finals with a 6-1 aggregate win.

Pione Sisto had equalised for Celta after Jose Arnaiz found the net for Barca in the first leg at Estadio de Balaidos; an away-goal that gives Barca a small advantage, although their manager, Ernesto Valverde, won't try to sit back and defend that narrow advantage.

"They are a team who try to dominate the game and they don't want you to have the ball, they put pressure on you high up the field".

"As he adapts to our game, to the Liga, to European football. he requires a process of adaptation and we hope he can help us during the season".

Jordi Alba's bouncing ball across the edge of the box was sacked home by Lionel Messi with the same duo linking up again two minutes later as Messi swept the full back's cut back into the corner.

Celta's heads were spinning, and it was no surprise to see errors creeping into their game.
