Camila Cabello Opens Up About Fifth Harmony's Controversial VMA Performance

This week, the 20-year-old singer when her single "Havana" hit the seven week-mark at the top of Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart.

"Havana" also topped the charts in the United Kingdom and Australia and total Spotify streams have surpassed 545 million, while its official music video has exceeded 500 million hits on YouTube and Vevo.

"I was just curious and I wanted to learn and I saw all these people around me making music, writing songs and being so free", she explained. If Cabello hasn't turned out to be the domineering force of nature we imagined when she shook up Fifth Harmony, there's as much to be said for a relatable sense of delight as a knack for disruption.

"We get asked all the time if we're getting a fifth member and we wanted to show the world in an artistic way that, hey, the four of us are Fifth Harmony", said Brooke during an interview with Good Morning America.

Questioned about Fifth Harmony's VMAs diss, Cabello revealed that the symbolic drop stung more than she would have liked to admit.

Cabello told Billboard that she's unsure when her relationship with the other women started to change, explaining, "I was always super open [that] I couldn't just sing other people's words and be totally happy with that".

So that's when she made a decision to say goodbye to the girl group and in her eyes, "if anyone wants to explore their individuality, it's not right for people to tell you no", she told the publication.

A peer most astutely compared Camila with Rihanna's untamed masterpiece ANTI, only on training wheels: Sure, she hits a few bumps without the added support of Fifth Harmony, but Cabello will confidently be riding solo in no time. "I have to make space for the good stuff to happen in my life".

"I CANT BELIEVE OBAMA SAID HAVANA WAS ONE OF HIS FAVORITE SONGS OF THE YEAR I AM REALLY CRUYING OH MY GOD DONT LOOK (AT) ME (sic)", the stunned pop star exclaimed on Twitter late last month (Dec17). Nope. She's chose to let that moment go to make room for all the awesome things going on in her life. "Why?'" Cabello said it almost made her cry.

On January 8th's episode of Beats 1 with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music, Elton John mentioned Camila while talking about his "tips" for in 2018 with Matt.
