Nintendo announced that this new Mario Cereal will be released in the U.S. on December 11th, 2017. You can get gold coins or hearts when using the Amiibo. I was hoping for a new costume or something trivial, but the box only brings the same functionality that is found with any plain old Amiibo. How about it? Are you going to give Super Mario Cereal a try? From 1986 to 1989, it partnered with Ralston Cereals to produce Nintendo Cereal System - boxes of which now sell for upward of $100 if they're in good condition.
The cereal itself is no different than Lucky Charms and it's knockoffs: themed marshmallow shapes in mixed berry flavors represent different staples from the Super Mario franchise.
"This powered-up partnership with Kellogg's is another exciting way for us to expand the Nintendo brand in unique and creative ways", said Tom Prata, Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, in a statement.
And if Twitter is any indication, people are excited, to say the least, further strengthening my Mario-fans-love-kids'-cereal theory. Rumors of the Super Mario cereal first circulated when cereal blog (yep, there are cereal blogs) posted about it on Monday, but now we know for sure-it's a real thing that we'll be able to actually buy.
