[Update] Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene has clarified that PUBG will run at 30 FPS on all the Xbox devices, including the Xbox One X, when the game becomes available through Xbox's Game Preview Program. Now PlayerUnknown Brendan Greene says the game will run at 30FPS on all Xbox One hardware, likely in an effort to preserve parity across the family and not give Xbox One X users a clear edge. They'll certainly be keen on trying, though.
Chances are the decision to limit the framerate has been made to ensure parity across the Xbox One platforms - those playing at 60fps on Xbox One X would have an advantage over those playing on a standard Xbox One otherwise. "The last time I saw it, it was running at about 30 to 40", the Game Director explained.
The game is poised to make a splash, no matter its frames per second, that's for sure, since it's already taken the world by storm these past few months. That said, Greene added that he has "great faith" he and his team will get to 60 FPS, though he also said frame rate is not as important in a game like PUBG, as opposed to a twitch shooter.
As for 4K textures, Green has said that it may be sometime before the studio is able to create some proper ones for both PC and Xbox One X.
It's no secret that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds still needs a lot of polish in terms of the PC version so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the same will be required on Xbox One. Which is why its been in Steam Early Access for so long.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will launch for Xbox Game Preview on December 12th, and is now in early access on PC, with a planned release date of late December.
