A similar incident just occurred to London Mayor Sadiq Khan during his historic walk across the border between India and Pakistan.
The mayor, whose family originated in India but moved to Pakistan after partition, described it as an emotional journey, retracing his grandparents' steps.
Earlier, London Mayor Sadiq Khan arrived in Pakistan on an official visit through Wagah Border.
During his stay there, Khan had visited Delhi, Mumbai and Amritsar and met with politicians and celebrities.
"I see my visit as an exciting opportunity to build on the ties that bind our cities and countries together", Sadiq Khan said while talking to the Chief Minister Punjab.
The mayor was received by officials from the Punjab government upon his arrival and is now holding a meeting with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Model Town.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab government, Mr Sharif said that Pakistan accorded great importance to its relations with the UK.
The goal of the Mayor's visit is to forge closer ties with the Pakistani business community and focus on meeting the young, up-and-coming generation who will play a key role in the ongoing development of the country. He said that successful counter-terrorism efforts have made Pakistan an opportune destination for British businesses.
Speaking at a dinner reception given by the mayor of Lahore, Mr Khan said he was impressed by the hospitality of the people of Lahore.
