On top of a number of other Harley projects in various stages of development, actress Margot Robbie now says she's been working on a solo film for the character, as well.
Margot Robbie, who wowed the audiences with her turn as the charmingly deranged Harley Quinn in an otherwise critically panned Suicide Squad, says she is working on a new Harley Quinn movie that appears to be unrelated to other movies in DC Extended Universe that are already announced like Gotham City Sirens and a film based on The Joker.
In an interview with MTV to promote her new film I, Tonya, Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad previous year, talked about her own vision for the future of the character, including a solo film completely unrelated to any of her other films.
She told them: "It's hard to kind of talk about it because all this stuff is under like, kind of lock and key".
"I've been working on it for two years now".
"I wanna see her with other women. I'm not sure anyone knows what's going to be the next thing, but everyone is itching to get Harley back on-screen". It doesn't seem to be Suicide Squad 2 either, so this will probably be a solo project featuring the character. There's a lot going on right now. I kept saying it when we were shooting Suicide Squad - she needs her girlfriends. No one actually cares about Harley Quinn or wants to see Warner Bros. ruin more iconic comic book characters. You see that in the comics, she loves meeting people, any people. You want to show them the characters they fell in love with, but you also can't be paralyzed by the idea of 'How do we please everyone?' because it's just not going to happen with any film.
What do you make of Robbie's comments on her Harley Quinn spin-off? Which project are you the most excited about?
