Shoppers Evacuated From NY Mall Amid Reports of Shooting: State Police

Two people were reportedly injured in a Middletown mall Sunday afternoon, a New York State Police spokesperson said.

The shooting happened inside the American Eagle store at the Galleria Mall in Middleton.

New York State Police say they received a report of possible shots fired at the Galleria at Crystal Run just after 3 p.m.

Hertman said a single round was sacked into the floor on the mall's second level. Both victims are expected to be OK.

Police say they are still searching for the suspect. It's unclear if the shot fired was an "accidental discharge" or intentional, he said, but the gun was pointing down at the floor when it was sacked.

The person who fired the shot is not in custody, Hertman said.

Upon arriving to the packed mall full of Black Friday weekend shoppers, police immediately locked down the mall and evacuated customers.

This story will be updated as soon as more details become available.
