Pokémon Go studio Niantic is reportedly making a Harry Potter AR game


Niantic Labs, the developers behind Pokémon Go, have announced that their follow-up game will be titled Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and based on J.K. Rowling's famous book series.

Pokemon Go has been a massive success, used by tens of millions of people each month. This time, Niantic is focusing their augmented reality skillset on JK Rowling's Wizarding World with the creation of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

According to TechCrunch, the game is being co-developed by Warner Bros.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter, as the first novel released in the United Kingdom on June 26, 1997.

There is actually a collection of Pokemon games on mobile now. Interactive and its new brand, the aptly named Portkey Games.

Rumors of the game's development were shut down a year ago, but now it's officially official according to a report from Tech Crunch.

Niantic has apologized in the past for the many technical errors, and has tried to continue making quality of life improvements.

An exact release date has not yet been set, but the creators promise more information will be forthcoming about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite in 2018. Little then sent it to 12 different publishers before it ended up with Bloomsbury.

Niantic is now famous for one of the highest grossing mobile games of all time with Pokémon GO. For fans of Harry Potter, this is a big deal.
