Pink & Kelly Clarkson Deliver Emotional Duet at 2017 American Music Awards

When ET spoke with Clarkson ahead of the performance on Thursday, she revealed that she had actually never really spoken to Pink before this year's awards show.

In an Instagram video posted on Friday (17.11.17), she said: "I'm just afraid I'm going to get up there and be like, 'I don't know if I can do this.' I don't care about heights". Her performance Sunday included "I'm Coming Out", "Take Me Higher" and "The Best Years of My Life".

Ross will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the show, hosted by her daughter, Golden Globe-winning "black-ish" actress Tracee Ellis Ross.

Pink is opening the 2017 American Music Awards tonight, alongside Kelly Clarkson.

Jamie Foxx introduced their performance with a tribute to first responders, saying, "We needed that power of music to help us heal [this year]".

The two singers had never met before the dress rehearsal but when they finally hit the AMAs stage at the beginning of the ceremony, their duet was ideal, wowing the audience and landing them a standing ovation. But while the performers are evenly split between men and women, the nominees? Other categories where male acts dominate include tour and video of the year, among others.

Halsey is the only female act nominated for favourite pop/rock song and collaboration of the year, both for the Chainsmokers' No. 1 hit, "Closer".

- New artist of the year: Niall Horan. This year's pop charts have been dominated by rap, a field where women are a rarity.

Bruno Mars is the top contender at the AMAs.

- Favorite country male artist: Keith Urban.
