'Lady Bird' Is Rotten Tomatoes' Best Reviewed Film Of All Time

Lady Bird, a much buzzed-about coming-of-age movie from Greta Gerwig, pushed the beloved animated film out of its top-reviewed spot on Rotten Tomatoes on Monday.

Toy Story 2 previously held the record for the most positively rated movie on the website.

The winsome story of a Catholic teen's coming-of-age in 2002, Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan as Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson, a 17-year-old girl in Sacramento who navigates life, love and family drama on her way out of high school and onward to NY.

Saoirse won Best Actress for her work in Lady Bird and Timothee was awarded the Breakthrough Actor prize for his work in Call Me By Your Name.

The critics have spoken, and it's officially undeniable-Lady Bird is pretty good.

Some other movies who have achieved a flawless score with over 100 reviews are 2008's Man on Wire and 2016's Things to Come.

Rotten Tomatoes announced the new record, saying: "Toy Story 2 originally made the record with 163 Fresh reviews, and today, Lady Bird. sets the new standard with 164 Fresh reviews (and counting)".

Since its November 3 release, Lady Bird has made more than $10 million, despite having played in only 800 or so theaters nationwide.

She continued, "That there has been such a warm reception is a dream come true. We are all on cloud nine and using our tomato emoji more than we ever thought possible". So, yes, celebrate Lady Bird's success and root for it to earn those Oscar noms come 2018 - but remember, it's far from the only film of its kind that warrants this kind of love.

Rotten Tomatoes has somewhat become the go-to movie review site though it shouldn't be "considered the end-all/be-all for film criticism", as Forbes said.
