Jimmy Fallon's mother Gloria dies day after canceled Tonight Show taping

Late-night host Jimmy Fallon's mother, Gloria Fallon, died on November 4, according to People.

The decision comes following the passing of Jimmy Fallon's mother Gloria. Her loved ones, including The Tonight Show host, were by her side at the NYU Langone Medical Centre in NY.

"Our prayers go out to Jimmy and his family as they go through this tough time", the statement concluded.

As of this writing there are new episodes of The Tonight Show scheduled for this week, but we will let you know here at CarterMatt if some of these episodes are canceled or if there will be guest hosts, similar to what Jimmy Kimmel did this past week while he cared for his son.

Just a few hours before Jimmy's mother's death was confirmed, The Tonight Show house band drummer and co-frontman Questlove spoke to a TMZ reporter about the family emergency that required Jimmy to cancel the taping.

Fallon's mother was ill and in a hospital at the time of the "Tonight Show" cancellation, said a person familiar with the matter. They moved upstate to Saugerties in the Catskills region when Jimmy was 2 years old and his father Jim took a job at IBM. We were forced to hang out with each other.

Jimmy was quoted as saying that his mother was a "total square" who entered the Catholic sisterhood for a brief stint as a nun. "When did 'Sound of Music" come out?

Fallon has often shouted out his Upstate New York roots on TV, cheering on Syracuse basketball and referencing the region in "Tonight Show" skits.
