Doom for Nintendo Switch works better in handheld than docked mode

Hulu on Thursday became the first USA streaming service to debut on the hybrid console. "Beginning later today, Hulu subscribers can now use their Nintendo Switch to stream all of their favorite TV whether they're at home or on the go". Right now Hulu costs $5.99 per month, and first-time users will get a 1-month free trial, but that's a limited offer after the offer Hulu will cost $7.99 per month. Switch owners won't just have access to their saved TV shows and on-demand programming, but the streaming service will also bring its live TV component to the console. Coming from that, Doom on the Switch is a complete mess.

The Nintendo Switch is impressive in its own way, but it doesn't have almost the power of Sony or Microsoft's consoles, much less a high-end gaming PC. That said, there are ways to access the service if you really, really want. "This game is all about powerful guns, insane demons, and fast, relentless gameplay, which we think Switch players will really enjoy".

Hopefully this means release dates for the likes of Netflix, YouTube, BBC iPlayer and Amazon Prime aren't far off.

Fils-Aime reiterated those thoughts to Kotaku last month, stating that video streaming services are going to come would come to Switch "in due time".

The Switch's portability makes it a great candidate for streaming services. Likewise, the Switch now has a larger library of games than when it was first launched, which clearly reflects Nintendo's effort of putting games first. The first sign for this was the announcement of the spring 2018 release of Korg Gadget, a music production app, on the Nintendo Switch.

This will be the first streaming service on the console and no doubt more will follow.

Modern video game consoles can do a lot more than just play games.
