DeShone Kizer returns to Browns vs. Lions game

After getting off to a strong start and taking a 10-0 lead today in Detroit, the Browns fell apart with a awful play call at the end of the first half, an injury to quarterback DeShone Kizer and some ugly coverage in their secondary.

Ultimately, Crowell finished with 16 carries for 90 yards and a rushing touchdown while adding one reception for five yards.

At key points of the fourth quarter, the Browns were without three key players.

What I didn't like: The end of the first half was a series of clock-management mishaps that saw the Browns blow a chance to tie the game or cut the deficit with a field goal. A pass to David Njoku was thrown too far outside and he could not get his feet down in bounds. After receiving the opening kickoff, the Lions went backward.

The Lions activated Decker off the physically unable to perform list Saturday and are expected to start him at left tackle for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. Then, with no timeouts, the Browns ran a quarterback sneak on second-and-goal. On Sunday he scored a touchdown and averaged 5.6 yards per carry. But they should feel good about winning. "Our defense has done a good job of holding down the fort when he's not there, but obviously he makes us a better football team defensively when he's out there playing".

Along with Abdullah, the Lions featured a steady diet of running backs on the game-tying drive.

Cleveland and their fans have had little reason to celebrate this season, especially after All-Pro lineman Joe Thomas went down with a triceps injury, breaking his record for consecutive snaps played.

If Crowell can continue this success for the rest of the season he will show all 32 NFL teams that he is a starting running back in this league.

Doomed by mistakes: One of Detroit's touchdowns came when DeValve fumbled while trying to make a first down after a catch.

The Brown had runs of 21, four, six, 19, 14 and six on this touchdown drive to knot the score at 17 in the third quarter.

"When Deck's ready, Deck's going to play", Caldwell said. The rookie passer was able to return late in game, but ended up throwing a game-sealing interception to Lions cornerback Darius Slay.
