Cowboys Cut RB Darren McFadden; Other Roster Moves

So Dallas granted him his release - "I grew up a Cowboys fan and it was awesome to wear the Star on my helmet".

The Dallas Cowboys have waived running back Darren McFadden. He was limited to just three games last season because he broke his elbow during the offseason, but he supplanted Morris as Elliott's backup.

McFadden's departure is an amicable one; the 30-year-old runner, two years ago Dallas' leading rusher, is buried on the depth chart now, even with Ezekiel Elliott on suspension. The team has chose to release kicker Mike Nugent after fellow kicker Dan Bailey returned to the team and proved his health in practice, according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.

The Cowboys signed Nugent when kicker Dan Bailey hurt his groin late in October. Both veterans may be able to find work with other teams for the remainder of the season.

A former first round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2013, Dallas will be his fourth team in 2017 alone. San Francisco released him on Tuesday.

"Listed at 6'4" and over 280 lbs, Jones has the athleticism to play defensive end but the size to move inside.

The Cowboys added a new third running back to the group as Trey Williams was promoted from the practice squad with McFadden's open roster spot, Garrett said.

According to multiple reports, the Cowboys are putting Darren McFadden on waivers.
