AT&T asks customers affected by outage to restart their phones

"We are aware of an issue affecting some users' ability to make certain wireless calls".

As of 6 p.m., the Outage.Report map was still showing a lot of red, including in eastern Texas, southern Louisiana, central Florida and in the New York City area. The company was advising customers to restart their phones, but that isn't working for all users, based on comments posted to Twitter.

No reason, technical or of any other nature, was given for the seemingly nationwide plague that restricted AT&T subscribers from making or receiving voice calls.

While that solution appears to work for many, some say they are still unable to make or receive calls.

Some AT&T wireless customers in western Kentucky have reported problems with their service.

According to the outage tracker Down Detector, a sudden spike in AT&T outages were reported around 6 p.m. ET.

I tried to make phones call from my iPhone and I could not complete any of the calls, local or long distance.
