They met with a mother and child.
Police said someone was handing out various types of candy with sewing needles in them. Police say the family had gone trick-or-treating in the Kingsley Road area before attending a "Trunk and Treat" event in the community.
The alarming discovery has police urging everyone check their Halloween candy thoroughly before eating and discard anything you feel looks suspicious. Last year, a parent reported finding a nail that was pushed into a Tootsie Roll that has been given to her daughter.
In both cases the location where the candy came from is unknown and police are warning parents to carefully inspect all Halloween candy before allowing children to eat it.
The items were sent to the State Crime Lab, but no arrests were made. The department says it's an "ill-advised prank and there is no legitimate complaints at this time".
