Antonio Conte Staying Uninvolved in Thibaut Courtois Contract Extension Talks

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has said that it is not his place to convince Thibaut Courtois to sign a new contract at the club.

Chelsea are probably the English club linked most with signing Brazilian players, and specifically players from the Brazilian league.

"The renewal of the contract is a task for the club. He knows very well what my thoughts about him are".

Courtois returned to Stamford Bridge in 2014 as one of the most highly-regarded goalkeepers in world football, quickly usurping Petr Cech as the Blues' no.1 option between the posts.

It is believed both Serie A under performers AC Milan and the Italian national side have shown interest in hiring and re-hiring the Chelsea boss respectively, with the former central midfielder's demeanour lacking a certain spark compared to that of 12 months ago. Obviously with that (3-4-3) system, they are two of the best wide players I have played with.

Chelsea got back from Baku after playing in the Champions League against Qarabag just before five in the morning.

"The most important thing is to perform well for myself and the team", said Courtois.

The 29-year-old has made just six starts in the Premier League this season, with the same amount coming from the substitutes' bench, and the lack of opportunity seems now to be weighing heavy on the speedy winger.

"In our system, the striker is a figure very important for us and for this reason he is always involved in our chances".

Conte admits that it is a hard task to compete with Pep Guardiola's side, who are not only winning but beating teams comfortably in the Premier League.

"I must be honest I think this question is for the club, not for me", Conte told reporters ahead of Saturday's Premier League trip to Liverpool.

'There will be time enough towards the end of the season to have talks'. "I think that Thibaut didn't need my opinion". Maybe he is now the best but for sure in the future [he will be].
