Sylvester Stallone set to direct Michael B. Jordan in 'Creed 2'

Stallone will take over Ryan Coogler as the film's director with Michael B. Jordan reprising his role as the titular character.

Four of them are from the Rocky franchise, one the 2008 Rambo comeback, another the 1983 disco classic Staying Alive and the latest being The Expendables.

After previously teasing his script for the follow-up to the 2015 film, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, Stallone has announced he's going to direct the eighth installment in the Rocky franchise. In fact, the only series movies that he didn't make are the original Rocky and Rocky V, which were both made by John G. Avildsen.

There are no further details on Creed 2 presently, but we'll keep you posted as news trickles in. Apart from directing, the actor will also produce the flick.

With the project still a few months away from the start of production, it's understandable that we don't know too much about Creed 2 just yet.

Variety reports Stallone broke the news on his Instagram with a photo of himself and Creed star Michael B. Jordan.

The film was slated for a 2017 release, however, Coogler and Jordan's commitments to "Black Panther" pushed it to a yet unannounced date.
