Alden Ehrenreich's portrayal of a young Han Solo was described in the report as being "oddly comparable to Jim Carrey's performance in Ace Ventura at times". The film is called Solo: A Star Wars Story. Howard also revealed that they just wrapped production on the movie. Something the good but similarly besieged Rogue One didn't really have. Since then, Howard has been working nearly non-stop, with extensive reshoots that have likely changed the film considerably from its original version as he shows regularly on his social media accounts.
Solo: A Star Wars Story follows the young smuggler before he gets embroiled in the fight against the Empire in the original Star Wars trilogy, and will also star Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Paul Bettany.
We'll no doubt be seeing the first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story soon, likely attached to Star Wars: The Last Jedi in December.
Howard took over directing duties on Solo: A Star Wars Story this summer after a highly publicized incident in which Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy fired Phil Lord and Christopher Miller over creative differences.
He was played in the original Star Wars films by actor Harrison Ford.
In the infancy of the Star Wars movie franchise, the character of Han Solo was given a spin-off treatment in three novels written by author Brian Daley in 1979 and 1980: Han Solo at Star's End, Han Solo's Revenge and Han Solo and the Lost Legacy.
Solo will arrive in cinemas on May 25, 2018.
