Disney drops animated Jack and the Beanstalk movie very big

Both Disney Animation and Pixar have grown leaps and bounds since then, with Ed Catmull serving as the animation studio's president and John Lasseter as its chief creative officer. We have arrived at this point with the big and, although this is a hard decision, we put an end to its development for the moment.

Catmull's statement confirms that another project will replace Gigantic's original release date. In the last five years alone, the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar either went to a Pixar or Disney Animation film: including fearless (2010) and Inside Out (2015) from Pixar, and Frozen, Big Hero 6 and Zootopia from Disney. "We focus our energy on other projects, that we will be unveiling soon, and which are now planned for Thanksgiving 2020".

Robert Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez, the songwriting duo from "Frozen", had been signed up to contribute songs for "Gigantic", which was to be directed by Nathan Greno (Rapunzel retelling "Tangled") and "Inside Out" co-writer Meg LeFauve.

As far as plot details are concerned, enormous was to be set in Spain during the Age of Exploration, with the story centering around Jack as he uncovers a world of giants hiding within the clouds. The film was originally set to be released in 2020 and would have featured Jack making friends with a female giant child.

With all the works that come out each week, it could be wrong to believe that the cinema has become a discipline that is easy and you just have to snap your fingers to lead a project. However, the film only pulled in $330 million globally, the lowest total revenue for a Pixar title thus far.

For now, Disney fans can still look forward to Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 in 2018 and Frozen 2 in 2019.
