TV: 4 p.m. ET, SEC Network.
In the second half the Hogs started to unravel. Temperatures are predicted to be in the mid to low 80s.
South Carolina's defensive line would be in the backfield all night, picking up seven tackles for loss, the second-most this season and most in an SEC game. The Gamecocks' most recent victory over an SEC West rival is a 34-16 decision over Mississippi State on November 2, 2013. Arkansas, which has lost its past five games against Power 5 opponents, is 0-16 when trailing at halftime under Bielema.
Next up for SC? But the Gamecocks got in gear against Arkansas, driving into Hogs territory or starting in it on eight of their first nine possessions. It was the biggest margin since Furman in 2014, and largest SEC win since USC crushed Arkansas 52-7 in 2013. The Razorbacks lost 27-7 at SC in 2000 and finished with a 6-6 record after a 31-14 loss to UNLV in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Arkansas plays at Alabama on Saturday. Connor Limpert made his first college field goal, a 48-yarder in the first quarter.
"I think this will be another swing game for both teams for sure", Lunney said.
The Gamecocks do not have a long tradition of dominating football, but their pre-game rocks, their in-game atmosphere is electric and their fans devoted.
While the defensive scoring outburst was the story of the game, SC also looked much more effective than it had since the loss of WR Deebo Samuel three weeks ago. South Carolina's opponents also have scored 31 points in the second quarter. Bentley has now thrown for at least one touchdown pass in all six of South Carolina's games this season.
"I actually had chills on the bus ride just seeing everything and reminiscing on what I did here and the fun I had here and I was a little nervous but, as the game started, I was straight".
The Gamecocks shredded that notion with three defensive touchdowns to break open a tight game in the third quarter for a 48-22 rout before an announced crowd of 79,416 at Williams-Brice Stadium. "We just have to do it back to back, every week", Moore said. "We know it's going to be a ridiculous SEC road game environment, so the guys are handling it the right way".
"Defensively, we had some huge plays with turnovers", Muschamp said. "For us to lose like this, it's really embarrassing".
"It's something that's been around in my ear", said Moore. "He's been trying to push through it, but it's hard", Muschamp said.
Bielema's only game against SC resulted in a 52-7 loss at home in 2013.
It was memorable for Bielema because it pitted him against legendary Coach Steve Spurrier, who did not hold back on his acerbic wit after the game. "I don't have no hatred or nothing towards this school, the coach, the players, none of that".
Spurrier's games against Arkansas produced some memorable moments, including the dedication of Frank Broyles Field in 2007.
And the struggle to find a highlight for Arkansas in SEC play over five seasons is what has this fan base increasingly restless. At the time the assumption was because Arkansas was down so many points.
