UFC 215 Predictions: Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko 9/9/17

They were slated to rematch at UFC 213 in July, but Nunes was forced off the card on fight day due to illness.

"I know exactly that she feels that she didn't win this fight". "Sure they offered refunds for tickets, but when you come from Saskatchewan and you've already paid for flights and hotels and you're going somewhere - how do you cancel?"

The champion smiled from her corner ahead of the fourth round, obviously not fading despite the questions surrounding her stamina in the lead up to the fight. I have stitches on my shin because of all the kicks I landed.

"We don't need to hate each other", Nunes added.

Saturday's event featured a host of local and Canadian talent, including a trio of B.C. fighters in Kajon Johnson, Sarah Moras and Arjan Bhullar, all three of whom were victorious.

"There were some (a few hundred) refunds", said Shaw.

"If it would have been in Saskatoon where we're only one hour away, then we might not have come, but we're big fans so we were going to be here anyway", said Gunter.

Several other impressive performances were turned in, with former champ Rafael dos Anjos (27-9 MMA, 16-7 UFC), Henry Cejudo (11-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC), Ilir Latifi (13-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) and Jeremy Stephens (26-14 MMA, 13-13 UFC) turning in convincing winning performances against their opponents. The displeased Edmonton crowd begins chanting "let's go Oilers".

'Man, I'm coming for that belt.

For Jeff Peyton, 28, Saturday night was more than just his first UFC event. "Even when I was on the ground I was landing more punches and she was just holding the position, nothing more".

Stephens cut the legs out from Melendez, literally, dropping him half a dozen times with leg kicks and dominated him in the standup as well. "She didn't hit me", Shevchenko said. "It was super emotional walking out".

"It was tough because I buy my new house, my new auto, all those things you work so hard to get", Nunes said.

"It was great to fight here in Edmonton in my adopted hometown", said Clarke. Vancouver lightweight Kajan Johnson opened the card with a shocking third round knockout of Adriano Martins, dropping the Brazilian with a shot behind the ear 49 seconds into the third... There isn't a fighter that can take many of those strikes.
