Nike NBA smart jerseys will turn fans into human cookies

On Friday night, Nike chose to unveil an alternate uniform for each of the 30 National Basketball Association teams, called the "Statement" jersey.

Julius Randle represented the Los Angeles Lakers wearing a purple uniform. "From modernizing the look of the game to revolutionizing how fans can be a part of it, we can't wait for the season to start".

The smart jerseys will also provide Nike with more pointed information as to who is buying what jersey as well as where they're checking in from.

While connecting fans to real-time data about their favorite players is a great way for Nike to deliver content to customers, the real value for Nike in this program is an expansion of their business analytics.

The new uniforms come courtesy the NBA's new partnership with Nike. Throughout the season, a wealth of exclusive offers and experiences will bring fans closer to the game they love.

The new system, called NikeConnect, is part of both the Swingman jersey and the authentic jerseys that will be available for fans to purchase for $110 and $200, respectively, on September 29. It was created with new Nike Therma Flex fabric, helps athletes maintain the right body temperature during pregame warm-ups and downtime during a game.

The Cavs will wear debut these jerseys on the court at Quicken Loans Arena when they play the Charlotte Hornets on November 24.
