Man arrested in Colorado possibly linked to murdered in teens, cops say

- A man arrested Monday on a weapons charge, who is suspected of menacing people in the Mt. Herman and Monument areas where a well-known cyclist was recently found dead, is also under investigation by authorities in IN in possible connection to the murder of two teens earlier this year.

Police say 31-year-old Daniel Nations is in custody for allegedly threatening several people with a hatchet. Police released a sketch of the suspect a short time later.

A man arrested for allegedly threatening people on a Colorado trail with a hatchet, and now being probed for several murders, is originally from the Upstate. He's jailed in Teller County, Colorado, and charged with possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

It happened in the same area where a mountain biker was murdered last weekend.

Anyone with information on crimes in El Paso County is asked to call the sheriff's office tip line at 719-520-6666.

Investigators in IN said Nations could be tied to the deaths of Liberty German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, who were found slain February 14, a day after they vanished while hiking. "It will give people a clearer image of who we are looking for", said Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley. No arrests have been made in their deaths.

Investigators have released very little evidence in the case, just a grainy picture, a sketch of the suspect and an audio recording taken from Libby's phone. "Each and every one of these tips are investigated for any potential connection to our case", Indiana State Police said in a statement. Police said the suspect has reddish-brown hair, stands between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10 and weighs between 180 and 220 pounds.

Williams and German went missing in February, when they planned to hike this trail on their day off from school. "If that should change-with this tip, or any other tip-rest assured we would be sharing such news with all media sources".

WISH-TV confirmed Nations registered as a sex offender living in Greenwood, Indiana, in 2010.
