As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches, the militants hiding in the area opened fire resultes into an encounter.
Indian security forces said on Thursday that they had killed one of the most wanted militants in the Kashmir Valley, a man they said was responsible for a recent attack on pilgrims who were visiting a religious shrine.

The July attack was the worst in the divided Himalayan region since 2000, when gunmen fired on a group of Hindu pilgrims and killed 32 people including two police officers.
The IG Kashmir said that the main focus of the forces will be to kill the militant leadership in Kashmir.
