Huawei will be announcing its Mate 10 smartphone next month along with an upgraded variant that rumors are calling it the Mate 10 Pro. "The Mate 10, which has much longer battery life with a full-screen display, quicker changing speed, better-photographing capability and many other features that will help us compete with Apple", he told Bloomberg in an interview.
During IFA 2017, Huawei unveiled a new chipset, the Kirin 970, which it states will not only improve power and performance but also include a "neural processing unit" (NPU). We have seen some leaked photos of the handset and now we have another one. The image of the front gives us a look at the dual front facing cameras, sensor, earpiece as well as a front flash. Huawei has already revealed October 16 as the launch date of its Mate 10. Mate 10 Pro anybody?
The smartphone according to a report on Slashleaks comes with 16 MP and 2 MP dual camera setup at the back and a 13 MP camera with 2 MP front camera on the front of the device. There are cut-outs for the front camera, proximity sensor, and the earpiece. A fingerprint scanner is also mounted on the back.
Consumers will have to hold their breath to determine whether Huawei's next Mate device is worthy of the scorn it has placed on Apple's iPhone X. At Apple event, iPhone X FaceID is said to have failed to work at the first time when Apple's senior vice-president Craig Federighi tried to unlock it.
Huawei is says the Mate 10 is going to be "The Real AI Phone".
The NPU is essentially a set of processing cores created to execute AI-related tasks, without the risk to overload the CPU and GPU.
These two Mate 10 versions will be the first devices that will be powered by this 10nm chip.
