Denis Villeneuve in Talks to Direct Sony's Cleopatra Movie

To keep us all keen for Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner sequel Blade Runner 2049, Admired anime director Shinichiro Watanabe has produced a short film that spans all of 15 minutes, titled Blade Runner Black Out 2022.

Many big directors have been attached, to helm the historical epic, including Ang Lee, David Fincher and James Cameron.

This is Villeneuve's third film in as many years to have been roundly applauded. Angelina Jolie was said to be part of the project but there's no confirmation if she will star in the film.

It seemed for quite a while that Cleopatra may have been dead in the water, especially as a new TV series about the historic figure was announced as in the works for Amazon.

No release date has been set for Cleopatra, but expect there to be a lot of buzz around this one.

According to Deadline, Denis Villeneuve is now in early talks to direct the film based on Stacy Schiff's book. Reportedly, the filmmaker has been approached by Scott Rudin Productions and Pascal Pictures.

Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is the anticipated Blade Runner 2049 prequel in the form of anime from the creator of Cowboy Bebop, which you can already see in Crunchyroll. He is also working on a readaptation of the sci-fi movie Dune.

It's the fifth film he's made in four years, and he's been talking in recent times about the need for a rest.

There is now no planned release date forCleopatra.
