David Johnson could need wrist surgery, visiting with specialists

David Johnson #31 of the Arizona Cardinals carries the ball against the Minnesota Vikings during the game on November 20, 2016 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Four players on the Texans suffered concussions in their blowout loss to Jacksonville, including their two top tight ends. Johnson made the Pro Bowl and was named as a first team All-Pro for his efforts. The other running back, Andre Ellington, did contribute in the passing game with a pair of catches for 35 yards, including a 24-yard catch-and-run play in the fourth quarter. In an interesting twist, it was an injury to Chris Johnson that gave David Johnson the starting running back job as a rookie two years ago. The Cardinals are placing him on injured reserve, which means Johnson has to miss at least eight weeks.

Cardinals do-it-all star running back David Johnson left Sunday's game against the Lions after injuring his wrist in the third quarter.

Injuries are a reality for all 32 National Football League teams. He decided upon Arizona with the understanding that his role would expand compared to last season, but fumbling issues in training camp helped lead to Arizona releasing him before Week 1.

"We got to look at everything", Pagano said after the Colts finished with 225 yards of offense and lost a fumble. "It's a work in progress, and I'm still learning, still attacking it and trying to get better each day". In addition to being the team's leading rusher past year, he was the second-leading receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald.

It also creates a new shortfall for a receiving group still trying to overcome the season-ending left knee injury Cameron Meredith suffered August 27.

Coach Bill O'Brien benched Tom Savage for rookie Deshaun Watson at halftime of Houston's 29-7 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. He has been injury prone and has played in only five of the team's 33 games since he was drafted.
