BSF jawan killed in Pakistani firing

One Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir's RS Pura sector on Friday, says media reports.

The official said the firing between border guards and Pakistani troops continued till this afternoon.

Pakistan rangers on Wednesday resorted to small arms firing and mortar shelling on Brahman Bella and Raipur Border out Posts (BoPs) along the IB in Pargwal sector of Akhnoor belt in Jammu district, a police officer said.

In the firing, Constable Bijender Bahadur hailing from Uttar Pradesh, who was deployed at a forward post was injured seriously. He is survived by his wife Sushmita Singh, according to the BSF spokesman.

On the other hand, Pakistan has claimed that there have more than 700 ceasefire violations by the Indian troops this year, which resulted in the killing of 32 civilians on their side of the LoC.

Incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops have increased sharply this year.

One civilian was also hit. A day later, India retaliated to that unprovoked shelling and killed two Pakistani soldiers in the same areas. "The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and worldwide human rights and humanitarian laws", Foreign Affairs Ministry of Pakistan said.
