SNES Classic Edition pre-orders will open this month, Nintendo promises

A Facebook post on Tuesday comes after major USA retailer Walmart accidentally placed the consoles on sale, only to unceremoniously cancel all of the orders the following day.

The pint-sized machine will come loaded with 21 fan-favorites including Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, Mega Man X, Super Mario World and F-Zero as well as two wired controllers for $79.99.

Expect the SNES Classic Edition to go on sale on September 29. During its launch, Nintendo did recognize its shortcomings in dealing with the high demand for its legacy console during its run and are promising that they'd be manufacturing "significantly more" units with the SNES Classic.

The SNES Classic Edition isn't yet available and it has already experienced a huge amount of drama.

SNES Classic pre-orders got a false start when Walmart started taking orders before abruptly cancelling them last week.

The situation has only led to further doubt which Nintendo publicly addressed on Tuesday.

It has been more than a month now since Nintendo announced and opened pre-orders for their follow from the smash hit NES Classic, the Super #Nintendo Entertainment System or better known as the SNES Classic. Unfortunately, there was no mention of specific dates which presumably means that each retailer will launch pre-orders on the date of their choosing.

NoA made the statement on their Facebook page today, promising a "significant" number of systems for launch day and the balance of the year.
