In the blog post, YouTube also notes that it has improved the feature according to the feedback it got from users over the past year. The new feature allows the YouTube users to send their friend videos and chat form in a new tab in the mobile app. Now the feature is enabled for all users of the YouTube application on smartphones, but is not available on the desktop version of the site. Users can start a chat/group amongst their contacts on YouTube and share videos easily.
Google believes that this new addition to the YouTube app makes for a more convenient sharing experience with contacts. You and your friends can even respond to the shared video by replying with another video. Last year, in September, a beta test was run by YouTube for its Community feature. The users can also add friends to the existing conversation. People who spend hours on YouTube will find the feature handy enough.
The mayor of London has called on YouTube to be more proactive in removing rap videos that promote violence and knife crime, saying gangs are misusing the website to fuel feuds between rivals and glamorise the use of weapons. And, despite the feature, users still have the option to share through other apps, just like before. If you still want to continue sharing videos through third-party apps, you can do that as well. The update also allows users to create an infinite playlist of songs with unlimited skips and check out all the videos and personalized recommendations.
Rest assured that you can still easily copy the link to a video, or share it to other apps like Facebook, Twitter, or Gmail, if you prefer. The new feature also supports group chat with a maximum of 30 participants in a single group. So, what we are looking at here is a full-fledged messaging service within the app.
'This is the dumbest thing I've seen in a while, ' commented one user.
YouTube is, without a doubt, the most popular platform for watching videos and its content highly shared on social media platforms as well as your closed messenger groups.
