Mother who prompted MA Amber Alert to face charges

The woman who allegedly kidnapped her three-year-old daughter in Worcester, triggering an Amber Alert, was apparently trying to kill herself and the child when State Police found them in an idling vehicle, the exhaust blocked with clothing.

A suicide note was also inside the auto, according to Pashou.

Worcester Police asked the public to be on the lookout for 3-year-old Ella Abbott after she was taken from a residence on Greenwood St.

Rickheit was located after members of the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section developed information indicating that she previously visited the wooded area where she was found.

A MA woman is facing attempted murder charges after apparently kidnapping her daughter and attempting to kill both the girl and herself.

Police believe Rickheit could be in the Charlton area and traveling on the Mass Pike in that area.

Trooper Keller Williams smashed one of the car's windows so the mother and daughter could be pulled out.

Ella's name was redacted from a police report of the incident.

The child is now reportedly doing well, officials said.

Members of the department's Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section located the auto Rickheit was believed to be driving on the backside of a pond located through the woods behind the Country Store on Stafford Street in Charlton.

Rickheit will be arraigned in Dudley District Court.

The child was taken to UMass Medical Center for an exam.

Rickheit and the child "were either sleeping or unconscious" and both were transported to area hospitals to be evaluated.
