Google might launch the next Pixel devices on October 5th

Talking about the launch of the Pixel 2 smartphones, it has been reported that it will happen in the month of October.

On the specifications side, the Google Pixel 2 is said to come with 64GB and 128GB of built-in storage variants and will support NFC, Bluetooth, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Surprisingly, this would be on-point to Google's conventional launching pattern as previous year, October 4 was when the original Pixel launched, along with the new Chromecast and a slew of other products.

The new Snapdragon 836 SoC processor would have slightly higher maximum speeds for both the CPU and GPU, and also offer slightly more battery life. While the larger of the two phones is said to be made by LG, the smaller one will be produced by HTC.

This "borderless" design isn't new, but it's what other manufacturers like Samsung and Andy Rubin's Essential are doing to push the boundaries of high-end smartphones - which is why others, like Google and Apple, are expected to follow. The new smaller version of the Google Home is also expected to launch with the Pixel 2 phones. Instead, the standard Google Pixel 2 smartphone will be accompanied by the Google Pixel 2 XL this year, as the strategy of the company remains very much centered on a simple smartphone and phablet format.

It is believed that the larger Pixel XL 2 will benefit from the sort of slimmed down bezels that have become extremely fashionable in the industry.

Pixel 2 with fewer bezels?

With Google having announced the new Android Oreo software, it is expected that the new smartphone will benefit from the system. The launch of Google Pixel 2 will show fans that the device bears other useful features, too.

A new "App Pair" feature will enable users to launch two apps at once, making it possible to, for example, watch a video on one half of the screen while texting a friend on the other half.

And when the Google Pixel 2 launch event reveals the next generation handset, it is widely anticipated that the 3.5mm headphone jack will have been removed. However, a cheaper model of Pixel 2 with lower specs is also rumored to make an appearance. This suggests that the Google Pixel 2 will be released in the $699 to $749 ballpark.

According to rumors, Google might make the upcoming Pixel flagship water-resistant.
