Vikings WR Michael Floyd suspended 4 games

Floyd, scheduled to report to training camp July 26, was suspended four game by the National Football League on Friday for violating its substance-abuse policy.?

Floyd will be eligible to return to the Minnesota's active roster on Monday, October 2, following the team's Week 4 clash with the Lions.

A source told the NFL Network that the Vikings were hopeful that the NFL would choose three games for the suspension. Given that he pleaded guilty to extreme DUI, the penalty could be even greater.

Floyd, then with the Arizona Cardinals, was arrested in Scottsdale in December when he was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle. He had a blood alcohol level of.217 when he was arrested, and on February 17 he was sentenced to 24 days in jail and 96 days under house arrest.

Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer says he threatened to cut receiver Michael Floyd if he was lying about his Kombucha tea defense.

"If I find out you're lying to me, I'm going to cut you [from the team]", Zimmer told the newspaper.

Floyd was sentenced to one day in jail earlier this offseason for failing a series of alcohol tests while on house arrest. He wasn't allowed to drink alcohol once released, but he tested positive recently during an at-home test. But an Arizona judge last month ordered Floyd to serve one day in jail for failing alcohol tests after a traffic stop past year. He blamed kombucha tea for having alcohol in his system.
