Shia LaBeouf was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of public drunkenness, obstruction, and disorderly conduct after causing a disturbance at Savannah, Georgia's City Market. LaBeouf escaped serious punishment for the Cabaret outburst even though it was reported that the star slapped Alan Cumming on the rear before sparring with security and then spitting on police.
The 31-year-old has been released after posting a $7,000 bond charge. According to police records, the entire incident that resulted in Shia's weekend arrest stemmed from the actor attempting to bum a cigarette and being denied his smoke. He was unsuccessful, something that apparently infuriated the actor.
Having used vulgar language in front of a group of women and children, the officer attempted arresting LaBeouf, according to the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.
After being told to leave the area, police said LaBeouf refused and became aggressive toward an officer.
LaBeouf, who besides acting has been involved in publicity-garnering performance art ventures, has had three other arrests in recent years. "LaBeouf was arrested in the hotel lobby, where his disorderly behavior continued", the release said.
Ultimately, police were able to catch up to LaBeouf and take him into custody. He was arrested for drunk driving in West Hollywood in 2008 for drunk driving. In 2014, he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after behaving in a truly freakish manner at a Broadway performance.
In 2014, Shia LaBeouf reportedly sought treatment for alcohol addiction. In 2015, he was cuffed in Austin, Texas for public intoxication.
CNN has reached out to LaBeouf's publicist and manager for comment.
