Two overnight fires in New Haven likely caused by fireworks

CBS4)- As Colorado celebrates America this Fourth of July holiday, fire officials are staying busy ensuring all parties with fireworks stay safe.

Officials have confiscated more than 33,000 in the weeks leading up to July Fourth. After calling 911 multiple neighbors used hoses from their houses to try and extinguish the fire.

Crews responded to the home on Baghdad Court just after 11 p.m. Tuesday, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Borroto said in a written statement at 7:32 a.m. that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Firefighters said a small fire started on the balcony but did not spread inside.

No one was injured in the fires.

Earlier in the evening, firefighters responded to a grass fire in the 600 block of East 7th Street caused by the use of fireworks. But a fire that starts in a garage because of fireworks, that may be the issue here.

The home has extensive damage on the second floor and water damage on the first. The homeowners were boating on Capitol Beach Lake and no injuries were reported. "Our message: Be real careful with consumer fireworks, not only the safety of igniting them but also picking them up afterwards".
