Ava DuVernay's upcoming adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time is already generating a lot of interest, and with a cast that includes Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon, that's hardly surprising. Reese Witherspoon stars in the film, based on the novel by Madeleine L'Engle. The book centers around a young girl named Meg Murry who, alongside her gifted five-year-old brother, Charles Wallace, and friend, Calvin O'Keefe, go on a insane adventure through time and space to find Meg's father, Dr. Alex Murry.
If you've been wishing you could use a tesseract to travel through time just to enjoy the first teaser trailer for A Wrinkle In Time, then it's your lucky day.
Disney has unveiled a attractive new poster for A Wrinkle in Time at their D23 Expo this weekend. There, they cross paths with a number of fantastical characters and creatures, including a trio of "chimerical celestial beings" who help Meg on her journey, which we met earlier this week in a set of first-look images.
She also explained what drew her to A Wrinkle in Time. And as the trailer showcases, DuVernay's impeccable direction brings the novel to life with aplomb. "I saw myself in it", she said.
Winfrey admitted that, like DuVernay, she hadn't read the book as a child, but was instantly drawn to the role that DuVernay described as the wisest woman in the world, an "angelic, celestial being who was going to get to wear incredible costumes and work with Reese and Mindy as a part of the Mrs. Team...who wouldn't say yes to that?" Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Chris Pine play Meg's parents, Dr. Kate Murry and the mysteriously-missing Dr. Alex Murry.
A Wrinkle in Time comes out March 9, 2018.
