Nintendo Switch Online Smartphone App Launches On 21st July

Splatoon 2 also features lots of new Special Weapons. The original Splatoon, which debuted on the Wii U in 2015, featured only a handful of play options. There's ranked mode, league play, Salmon Run, a single-player campaign and plenty of extras and mini-games in Inkopolis.

This added variety could help Splatoon 2 succeed where its predecessor stumbled.

Which mode will you be diving into first? This happened after Amazon offered the 20% discount on Splatoon 2 to all customers, not just Prime members starting yesterday.

Once the full online service rolls out next year, players will have to pay $19.99 per year to access online multiplayer and use the Nintendo Switch Online app.

SplatNet 2 allows players to keep track of different stage schedules, stats, ranking details and the amount of ink spilled over the course of individual matches.

SplatNet 2 is only available on smartphones and not the actual Nintendo Switch console and will be included as part of Nintendo's upcoming dedicated online Switch smartphone app.

The free version of the Nintendo Switch Online app will come with some limited features for gamers, including online matchmaking and online chat.

And as we learned from previous Splatoon 2 marketing, Callie and Marie have split up. Maybe everyone will be pleasantly surprised by the setup. In addition to that, Nintendo plans to hold regular Splatfests for Splatoon 2 for two years after its release. After all, Splatfests kept the first game alive, luring more casual players back with each competition. Players choose sides and then fight it out to prove their choice is better than the other one.
