Michigan Gas Prices Fall For July 4th Holiday

Kauai gas prices range from $3.29 for a gallon of regular unleaded in Lihue to about $2.70 a gallon at Costco, and about $3.60 a gallon on the North Shore.

Right now, OH takes the top spot for monthly changes in gas prices from June to July with a 28 cent decrease. That can not be said for the West Coast where gas prices are inching near $3 per gallon.

Independence Day motorists traveling between Oklahoma's major metropolitan areas should be aware that the citywide gas price average for regular is 12 cents lower in Tulsa than in Oklahoma City today. SC continues to carry the cheapest gas in the country at $1.90.

The monthlong gas-price free fall is a result of skidding crude oil prices in global markets over the past month, spurred by increased drilling production in the United States. Joseph area is down 11-cents to $2.23, which is also two-cents lower than this time past year. "Yet gas prices on the West Coast continue to be the most expensive in the country: Hawaii, $3.05, California, $2.94, and Alaska, $.2.84". One reason: a report on Thursday by the U.S. Energy Information Administration that drilling activity in the United States dropped by two rigs - the first pullback since January. The overall figure reflects a 3 percent increase compared to past year.

Most residents we spoke with haven't seen a lot of people traveling or are not concerned with the possible traffic for July Fourth. This significant number of rigs means that the market still has a long way to go before decreased production in the US has a major impact on the price per barrel of crude.
