As Entertainment Tonight reported, Woods had taken to Twitter on Monday, July 10, 2017 to insensitively respond to a cute family photo of a mother, father, and son celebrating Pride in Orange County, California.
Woods' tweet had received 28,000 likes as of early Wednesday afternoon.
"How I Met Your Mother" actor Neil Patrick Harris called out another Hollywood actor over an insensitive joke tweeted over the weekend.
While members of the LGBTI community slammed Woods for his controversial remarks, a number of social media users praised the actor and added to the condemnation of the young boy's parents.
Woods has yet to respond to Harris.
Harris blasted the transphobic comments on Twitter, calling Woods "ignorant and classless", and noting that he knew the family of the boy.
"Mr. Woods. I'm friends with this family. You know not of what you speak, and should be ashamed of yourself", he told Mr. Woods.
If you found Woods' comments disturbing, you're definitely not alone.
The family in question runs a blog entitled "Raising My Rainbow" and have applauded Neil Patrick Harris for sticking up for their son, C.J. The Human Rights Campaign publicly thanked him for helping all children be loved and accepted for who they are. Posting a GIF of the moment, the actor graphically wrote, "As his butt plug dislodges during a newscast..." Appearing alongside Elton John, Jamie Foxx, Lisa Ling, David Furnish and Lisa VanDerPump, he appealed to viewers to support LGBTQ youth stating, "We've got you".
