Carrie Fisher Inducted As A Disney Legend At D23

"As far back as I can remember, my mom and I have been Disney fanatics".

"We all miss her talent, her wit and her friendship", he said to the crowd at the biennial celebration of all things Disney.

Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd has shared a touching acceptance speech on behalf of her late mother after she was honoured posthumously with a Legend award from Walt Disney.

Ever since Carrie Fisher suddenly passed away this last December, there have been many lovely tributes in her honor.

Fisher and Hamill's presentations came toward the end of the Legends Awards presentation at D23, which honored nine others, including Stan Lee, Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg.

In addition to co-hosting ABC's long running talk show, The View, Goldberg has lent her voice to two villainous roles for the Mouse House: Shenzi, a hyena lackey who works for big bad Scar, in Disney's The Lion King, and Stretch, a gummy purple octopus who serves as an enforcer for Lotso, the kingpin-like teddy bear, in Pixar's Toy Story 3.

Established in 1987, the Disney Legends Awards used to be an annual private event. So becoming a part of the Disney family was truly an wonderful moment for her.

"I am very glad to see this year's award winners", Ashley Gilmore, a Disney fan told Xinhua after the Awards ceremony, "I would not be more honor to see Mark Hamill, and to be here to honor Carrie Fisher". At this weekend's D23 Expo, a reception was thrown to honor this year's inductees, with Carrie Fisher's tribute being one of the most emotional of the whole event. "At that time in our lives, we were comfortable with each other", Hamill said. Thank you."Undoubtedly, Princess Leia will continue to live on in the Disney Legends hall of fame". I know if she was here this morning, she would have flipped me the bird at least twice already, so thank you all so much.
