Long-standing Real Madrid stalwart Pepe has completed his protected move away from the Bernabeu, signing for Turkish giants Besiktas, according to their official sources. "He will be paid a total of €9.5 millions in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 season plus €4,000 per game he plays".
Pepe landed in Istanbul in the early hours on Wednesday on a private jet and was given a rousing welcome by hundreds of Beşiktaş fans, who had waited overnight at the airport.
With Turkey's only automatic Champions League berth in their possession, Beşiktaş hope for drastic improvement on their group-stage exit last time round.
Do you think Pepe could have signed for a bigger club?
It was also during his time at Real that he won the Euro 2016 with Portugal.
Orman added: "We have added a very important player with a career and personality that we like".
The 34-year-old played almost 350 games for the Spanish giant after signing from Porto in 2007, winning three La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.
It will be interesting to see what Real Madrid do in this transfer window, having already lost three players this season with the likes of Diego Llorenthe, Mariano Diaz and now Pepe.
"I spent 10 wonderful years at Real Madrid", Pepe explained.
The centre-back could not agree a new deal with Los Blancos after a decade at the Santiago Bernabeu, in which he won La Liga and the Champions League three times each.
