Honor 9 Hands-on Review: Premium phone, affordable price

Depending on the market, it carries a price of either £379.99 (4GB RAM + 64GB storage) or €449.99 (6GB RAM + 64GB storage). Huawei revealed during the show that the Honor 9 will be available from early July, so presumably, you only have a couple of weeks to wait should you want one for yourself. It comes in silver and the famous blue finish Honor is known for, while those in countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy can all now purchase the handset.

HONOR HAS revealed its latest flagship device, the Honor 9.

The Honor 9 was officially announced for the Chinese market earlier in June and while the United Kingdom and Europe might get a modified version, there are many clues as to the specifications we can look forward to. The company teamed up with Grammy award-winning producer Rainer Maillard to optimize the Honor 9's sound quality, while Monster created a special Honor Purity sound equalizer for the Honor 9. It has curved 2.5D glass edges on the front of the phone and full 3D glass edges on the rear and the result is a phone that, straight out of the box, looks like something you've spent £600-plus on, not less than £400.

The highlight of the OnePlus 5 is its maiden dual camera setup and it does a great job with it. Honor on the other hand has been in that game since a while, and the Honor 8 Pro boasts of fourth generation of the dual cameras with twin 12 MP cameras - an RGB sensor for color and a monochrome sensor for details.

To help answer that question we've compared the Honor 9 to the Honor 8 across all the categories that matter, from design to display, battery to camera and beyond, so you can decide whether the Honor 9 is a worthy upgrade, and worth your money.

The Honor 9 is available to pre-order right now via the vMall online store. This technology kicks in automatically when the lenses identify low-light situations.

The Honor 9 can also shoot video in 4K, while the Honor 8 is capped at 1080p.

Whether the Honor 9's screen is any better in practice remains to be seen. The ultra-wide 3D sound technology has been fine-tuned by Grammy Award victor Rainer Maillard and has been engineered with custom playback styles for all music genres so listeners can get lost in their music. Like most high-end Huawei phones, the Honor 9 is powered by an octa-core Kirin 960 chip (four ARM Cortex-A73 cores at 2.4GHz, plus four Cortex-A53s at 1.8GHz), and that's backed up by 4GB or 6GB of RAM depending on where you buy. There's 64GB of built-in storage, with support for microSD cards up to 256GB. To power everything, a 3,200mAh battery is present which is chargeable over USB-C. Personally, I'd prefer Honor a better option to go.

The smartphone stands out for its good looks and decent performance. Huawei's global network is built on 20 years of expertise in the telecom industry and is dedicated to delivering the latest technological advances to consumers around the world.
