Curry, Durant committed to keeping Golden State on top

Durant said he has "no question" in his mind he will be back with the Warriors.

Durant drove left, right and down the middle, knocked down 3-pointers, dished and dunked. Not to mention a healthy one after his 2016 injuries.

Green had sat out this very game a year ago, suspended because of flagrant foul point accumulation after he swiped at James' groin in Game 4.

Curry had 34 points and 10 assists and got to the line for 15 foul shots, making 12. And they could thank Kevin Durant for that.

Well, the message didn't come straight from Obama himself (maybe KD needs a couple more championships before he gets Obama's number) but Obama "sent a text through somebody to get to" Durant.

But despite their exit from The Finals, Cavaliers small forward LeBron James contends the team was not overmatched by the star-studded Warriors, who acquired one of the top players in the National Basketball Association in free agency last season, small forward Kevin Durant.

"This is what we talked about the whole year, realizing this goal and understanding how important both would be to the equation, along with our teammates", Curry said.

The Warriors became the first Bay Area team to capture a championship at home since the A's finished the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the 1974 World Series.

The individual efforts of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving were fantastic to watch, as was the Warriors offense whenever it would reach its peak - as it did in the second quarter of Game 5. That's up 13 percent from the previous two Game 5s in the trilogy.

Quick fact check for The Game: Not only did Kobe Bryant lose in the Finals twice, his second Finals loss in 2008 was punctuated with the largest elimination game defeat in the history of the NBA Finals, following a season where he was named NBA MVP for the only time in his career.

As currently constructed, the Cavaliers needed a record-breaking performance to simply take a game away from the newly crowned NBA Champions, which is to say, the roster they have now may be ill-equipped to handle the Warriors in a seven-game series. Durant appeared to commit his third foul on the play, but the officials let it go and the game quickly turned. "I thought they gave everything they had, and we fought, we competed, and we never gave in, but they beat us". Thompson and Smith confronted West and all three of those players got technical fouls. Irving was on fire in games 3-5, giving #LeBron James help on the offensive end. "There are decisions that need to be made every single year, and you have to assess the situation as it is".
